Contest Rules & Regulations

Everything you need to know to compete in the Annual PieDog Eating Contest

The Challenge

The PieDog Eating Contest is a timed competitive eating event where participants compete to consume as many PieDogs as possible within a 10-minute timeframe. Each PieDog consists of a full-length hotdog wrapped in golden shortcrust pastry, stuffed with melted cheese, caramelized onions, and peppers.

All competitors must follow the rules outlined below to ensure fair play and safety. The referee's decisions are final in all matters.

Official Competition Rules

1

Time Limit

Contestants have exactly 10 minutes to eat as many PieDogs as possible. The timer begins when the referee signals the start, and eating must cease immediately when time expires. Any PieDog not fully consumed at the time buzzer will not count toward your total.

2

Clean Your Plate

All crumbs and remnants must be cleared from your plate and tray. Referees will inspect plates throughout the competition. Any significant amount of food left on the plate may result in that PieDog not being counted. Your mouth must also be empty (no "chipmunking") when the timer ends.

3

No Skipping Ingredients

You must eat ALL components of the PieDog—pastry, sausage, cheese, onions, and peppers. Picking out ingredients or leaving vegetables on the plate is not permitted. Each PieDog must be consumed in its entirety to count toward your total.

4

Swallow Before Advancing

Each PieDog must be fully swallowed before you touch or begin eating the next one. Referees will be monitoring to ensure compliance. Attempting to start a new PieDog while still chewing the previous one may result in a warning or disqualification.

5

Referee Authority

Official referees will monitor all contestants throughout the competition. Referees have the authority to issue warnings, deduct PieDogs from counts, or disqualify contestants for rule violations. All referee decisions are final and cannot be appealed.

6

Age Requirement

All contestants must be 18 years or older to compete. Valid government-issued photo identification must be presented at registration. No exceptions will be made to this requirement.
